These last weeks have been plunged into mourning: The great artist, the friend who hosted my site at Esoteric Art , Serge Clapa, suddenly left us. … Another nasty joke, another shadow on the very little world of the last Humans. The best tribute I can pay to him is to keep on with my art, and engraved on my memory, the precious advice he shared in bad times, and his unfailing support.

The talented author and designer Marie O'Regan agreed to design my new site. Marie was one of the first ones to give me a chance by asking me to illustrate "Prism", the quarterly publication of the British Fantasy Society that she edits.

But these last weeks have also been rich in new contacts and additions of my work to other web galleries such as Eternal Night and also to print magazines. I've also just signed my first contract with "Nuit d'avril" a small and talented french publisher. Amongst my projects are two challenges: Illustrations of fairy tales then fantasy books for children . And other surrealist works and always the setting of 19th century funerary art.

Without transition I'd like to tell you about the main fight of my life: Protection of animals in the world. Sometimes, life is good enough to arrange for two people to meet. And this meeting changes your life; in my case, it gave me fresh confidence in the human race. That's why for the opening of this new site I'd like to pay tribute to my friend Leila El Fourgi.

Leila is the chairwoman of the Animals Protection Society in Tunisia. As a vet, she devotes all her life to improving animals living conditions; so terribly hard in such countries where at best animals are working tools and at worst, outlets for frustration. Her life is an endless fight against cruelty and human stupidity. With very, very few means, she achieves miracles. But for one animal saved, many dozens die in unspeakable suffering.

Leila is a Human, strong and fearless, built with convictions and high values. It's important for me that if you read these lines and share the sames values and love for animals, support her … I know each settlement on the "Société Protectrice des Animaux" of Tunisia shall help her to save more animals and so bring her joy and new confidence in the human race and also make her feel less lonely in her fight…

For your information, the SPA of Tunisia is supported by the Brigitte Bardot foundation.

All donations can be sent to: SPA (Société Protectrice des Animaux) - avenue du 3 Août - 1009 El Ouardia - Tunis - Tunisia. Further information can be obtained by writing to the following e-mail: spa.tunisie.assoc@wanadoo.fr
